Happy Halloween!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to say a quick Happy Halloween to everyone! Hope everyone had a great Halloween filled day. Matt and I had a little scary movie night. We rented IT the killer clown, and it was so scary! Good thing he was there to cuddle with when I got scared. Eeep! I'll probably have nightmares tonight... ;)

Tell me all about what you gals did for Halloween!

With much love, Lauren.

300th Post!

Navy Ruffle Pants: Forever21.
Cream Ruffle Blouse: Forever21.
Leopard Cardigan: Forever21.
Gold Clip On Earrings: Thrifted.
Brown Wedges: Thrifted.

Hello everyone!

I'd just like to thank you all for the lovely comments on my Halloween costume! You all are just too kind :)

This is the outfit I actually wore Friday to school. I was in a fairly experimental mood and decided to try out something I wouldn't usually put together. I actually got these pants on my last Forever21 shopping trip in August and hadn't even worn them yet! My favorite part about these pants is the ruffle at the top. I tucked my blouse in so that the ruffle would actually show. I was so sad that as I was walking into school yesterday morning, that I actually ripped a hole in this leopard cardigan! :( Ah, Forever21 may have adorable clothes but they rip and fall apart so easily!

Tomorrow is Halloween: yay! I'm excited to do some Halloween activities with Matt even though I don't particularly like to be scared. I think I can deal with being scared for one day out of the year :)

With much love, Lauren.

P.S. This was my 300th blog post today: I can't believe it!

I'm a Barbie Girl In a Barbie World!

Hello everyone!

So my Halloween dress up for school was actually yesterday, but I had so much homework last night I didn't get to do a post. I LOVED this costume. It is my favorite and most creative costume to date! I got the idea to be a Barbie off of a Halloween website and then added the box to the costume. It always bothers me when people can't figure out what you are for Halloween, so I didn't want there to be any question about who I was! I don't think I'll ever be able to top this costume...

So here are the materials used to make the outfit:

  1. Vacuum cleaner box: supplied by my dad (free).
  2. Hot pink paint: Had from a school project (free).
  3. Mattel and Barbie Letters (bar code on the back of box): Printed off Internet.
  4. Fake eyelashes: Halloween Store (free).
  5. Blonde Wig w/ Bangs: Halloween Store (free).
  6. Hot pink Shirt: Thrift Store ($2).
  7. Hounds tooth Skirt: Thrift Store ( Already had).
  8. Black Boots: Thrift Store (Already had).
  9. Hot pink lipstick: Target ($1).
  10. Hot pink nail polish: Target ($1).

Total: $4.00!

I spent a total of about two hours painting and making the box look like an actual Barbie box; that was the hardest part about this costume. Wearing this costume was an absolute blast... I had so much fun pretending to be Barbie! Everyone at school loved it, and they actually took my picture for the yearbook! It was very difficult to maneuver around at school in this though. The box restricted my movements and was very uncomfortable on my arms. Sitting down (even in tiny desks!) was not a problem though. I've got to say though that the discomfort was worth it. Also, I couldn't wear a back back because it wouldn't fit in my box, so I just carried my books around in a Forever21 shopping bag. I was "I love shopping" Barbie ;)

I'm seventeen years old and yet I still love Halloween... I'm such a kid at heart. Tomorrow I'm going out to do some fun fall activities with some friends, and then for Halloween on Sunday Matt and I are doing some fun scary things! This weekend is going to be great!

Hope everyone has a good weekend and a wonderful Halloween. I'll probably do a post before then, but I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Halloween in advance :)

With much love, Lauren.

Hello everyone!

So lately I have just been so inspired by all things fall: the changing leaves, warm coffee drinks, cozy knit hats, and pumpkin flavored anything! I just want to commend all of you bloggers out there for being so inspiring, too! I have really enjoyed seeing you all put together adorable fall outfits with cardigans, tights, hats, scarves, and fall colors. This outfit today was actually somewhat fall inspired with my color scheme of reds and browns. I've got the perfect fall outfit planned out for Saturday that I hope to wear if I do some fall activities with some friends (apple and pumpkin picking, corn mazes, hay rides. The works!) But if the plans don't work out I still plan on wearing the outfit anyways and probably taking some blog pictures where there are some gorgeous leaves!

Well, that's all for today I guess. Tomorrow is Halloween dress up day for school and I honestly can't wait. Yay! :)

With much love, Lauren.

P.S. I just wanted to give a shout out to blogger, Shannon! Shannon for the oddest reason I cannot get the link to your blog and haven't been able to just say thank you so much for all of the lovely comments you have been leaving lately. You are too sweet and I'm so sorry that I can't reply back to them!

Smile and Say Cheese!

Hello everyone!

So today it was pouring rain outside so no outfit pictures. Booo! I have been wanting to post my new school picture though, and today seemed like the perfect opportunity!

I think no matter how good the picture actually is, I will always find something wrong with my school picture. Whether it's my hair, my smile, or my eyes I never fail to find some tiny imperfection! But I mean, it's a school picture for Pete's sake! It's usually so tiny in the year book that no one can hardly even sees the picture let alone if there's anything wrong with it. Besides, I think the quote, "You're your worst critic" always applies to school pictures! :)

Hope everyone has been having a good week so far. Tomorrow's half way through the week already! My Halloween dress up day for school was moved from Friday to Thursday, so pictures should be up sooner than I thought! I really cannot wait.

With much love, Lauren.

P.S. Oh, you silly anonymous commenter you. Did you think by putting a fake pen name that I still wouldn't know it was you? Think again. I've known who you are all along, and I'm sick and tired of you. Your comments aren't putting me down, they are just making me laugh because they show how jealous and insecure you are. Seriously grow up and get off my blog.

Completely Awe Struck.

Black Satin Military Trench Coat: Target.
Nude Pumps: Gabriel Brother's.
(Yes I go have a yes underneath if you're wondering!)

Hello everyone!

So I am, so, so, so awe struck and excited about what I found out today! Last week I was doing my daily visit to US weekly Magazine. com when I saw that they were having a photo contest. For the contest it was to submit a photo of yourself dressed up like a celebrity. Just the day before I had worn my Angelina Jolie costume for "celebrity day," and thought it would be kind of fun if I entered the contest. After I entered I forgot all about the contest and knew that I would probably never win.

Well, imagine how shocked I was when I got an email today telling me I was one of the winners!! Ahhh! I was practically jumping up and down I was so excited... I mean, I never ever win anything. It was a complete shock because I never expected to be one of the winners. I think the best part isn't about winning though, it's seeing and hearing how proud my family is of me. So often people ask me "Do you play sports? What hobbies do you have?" My reply? "Umm... I blog." Well, then I have to always launch into a big long explanation about what blogging really is, and by the end the person still doesn't understand. Just, it makes me feel so good that my hard work with this blog and what I do with it has finally paid off and something happened that my family could be proud of me for. I am seriously on cloud nine everyone! If you want to see me on the site, here's the link: http://www.usmagazine.com/celebritynews/photos/your-best-celeb-halloween-costumes-20102010/10833

Well, anyways before I found out all of this good news I was originally going to just post about my new trench coat I bought recently! The night of homecoming Matt and I actually stopped at Target and I saw this gorgeous trench. I didn't have enough money to buy it at the time, but did go back and get it last week! I LOVE this trench coat! it's so simple, but yet a real statement piece. An excellent addition to my wardrobe. The way I styled it I was really inspired by the old Karlie Kloss Dior ads where she has Lauren Bacall style waves, and also a recent candid shot of Katie Holmes in a leopard trench with nude heels.

Hope everyone is doing fantastic!
With much love, Lauren.

P.S. I know I said I was going to post my school picture today, but with the contest, my new trench, and the inspiration pictures I thought that tomorrow would be a better day! :)

Ghosts of Halloween Coustumes Past...

Hello everyone!

So this past weekend of mine was spent working on my Halloween costume! Guys, I.am.so.excited! This is probably my favorite and most creative Halloween costume yet. Oh, and may I mention I only spent three dollars on it?! I can't reveal what I'm being yet because I want to keep it a secret from the kids at school. Friday is Halloween dress up day for school, and I will be sure to take tons of pictures! Like I said: I am SO excited to wear this costume. I can hardly wait until Friday!

So in honor of my finished costume, I wanted to show you all just some of the costumes I have worn in the past! I've literally been all over the Halloween costume spectrum. From scary to angelic, from ultra tom boy, to ultra girly I've been it all! Here's what I've been: an angel, a bunny, a 1950's girl (yay!), a powder puff girl, a witch, Harry Potter, Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz, a Chinese girl (twice), Twister, and a girl from the 1940's! Also, I was a bride last year for Halloween but never got to take pictures (this was pre blog). And yes, Matt was my groom! :)

It's so funny looking back at these pictures because the costumes represent different periods in my life. I have evolved so much!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! With much love, Lauren.

P.S. I'm going to post one of my new school pictures tomorrow! Eeek! :D

The Only Time When Stealing Is Okay!

Jean Jacket: Stolen!!
Brown Ruffle Blouse: Thrifted.
Floral Skirt: Forever21.
Pointy Kitten Heel Shoes: Thrifted.
Brown Belt: Kohl's.

Hello everyone!

So there's only been one thing in my life that I've ever stolen... this jean jacket! Now, before you jump to horrible conclusions about me: I DID NOT steal this from a store! ;)

It was the last day the pool was open in the summer when my manager asked me to do something with the huge lost and found pile. I took all of the bleached clothing, broken googles, and crumpled up towels and sorted through all of them. I was pretty shocked when I found this adorable little jean jacket from Old Navy. Who would leave something so cute at the pool and not come back for it?! Well, I put it into the trash bag to go to the Salvation Army with all the other junk and didn't think much about it after that. My manager then asked if I could take the stuff to the Salvation Army drop off box, and I agreed. Just as I was about ready to throw the huge garbage bag into the donation box, I thought about the jean jacket and how I had really been looking for one lately. At the last minute I grabbed the jean jacket out of the trash and took it home with me!

Yes, technically I stole it but hey, I would have probably just found it at the thrift store and paid three bucks for it anyways. Or, maybe someone would have never even bought it. Yes, we'll go with that thought. I saved this jacket from hanging forever on a clothing rack, all alone :)

So, since the beginning of September I have had this jacket and was getting worried that I would never find anything to go with it. When putting together this outfit and wanting a little more ompf, I pulled out this jean jacket and it completed the outfit!

Hope everyone is doing great! Thank you all so much for the support on my last post about that persistent annoying anonymous commenter. You all are so amazing!

With much love, Lauren.

Hello everyone!

Whew, just finished writing a physics lab report that took 2 and a half hours. Why I took physics I'll never know...ha.

But, before getting on to do this post, I became quite irritated at something I saw, or frankly have been seeing lately. There has been a persistent and highly annoying anonymous

commeter(s) that have been writing nasty things about me lately. Honestly? Are you going to pick on a seventeen year old girl's style and then hide behind "anonymous" like a coward? I am totally sick and tired of this mean anonymous commenter. Their latest comment of "wow. no" on one of my outfits does not offend of upset me. I don't get easily offended by people saying things about my style because I am confident in myself and the way I dress. People telling me that they don't like the way they dress doesn't bother me. But to persistently keep writing it on my blog with the intention to hurt me, do you seriously have a life anonymous commenter? If you don't have anything nice to say, why are you even on my blog? I have never written anything mean on ANYONE'S blog and never plan to. I just don't get people sometimes and what goes through their mind.

So, unfortunately due to this persistent little pest I am highly contemplating taking out the option for anonymous people to be able to comment my blog. I have so many anonymous readers out there who are great. There are members of my family, friends from school, and also genuine nice people out there who don't have an account and like to read and comment my blog. It breaks my heart to restrict these people from being able to comment on, but this has got to stop.

On a lighter note, thank goodness tomorrow if Friday! Weekend please hurry up...
With much love, Lauren.

P.S. I got my school pictures today! Eh, not sure how I feel about them, but maybe that's just me being a silly perfectionist :)

Hello everyone!

So a few weeks ago my great aunt gave me a call and wanted me to style up an outfit for her that she hadn't worn in thirty years. I'm always looking for an excuse to style someone up, so of course I accepted! Well, I went over to her house and she led me to her closet, but not to have me help her style up an outfit. Instead, she had me try on this gorgeous sequin jumpsuit. I literally gasped when I saw this jumpsuit because I have been looking for one forever at the local thrift stores, but all of them have horrid shoulder pads, are too big in the crotch area, or are usually a mile too long.

When I tried on this jumpsuit it was like fate. It couldn't have had a better fit! My great aunt bought it in 1970 for a fancy party she was going to. She went to this couture boutique in Columbus searching for the perfect thing to wear, and when the sales lady pulled out this she knew it was the one even though it was $200 dollars! For thirty years my aunt hasn't been able to wear it and hasn't wanted to part with the jumpsuit. Recently, she was going to just give it away to a thrift store but then she thought about me and how I love vintage clothes. I was in utter shock of her kind and thoughtfulness... I seriously cried!

I mean it was just so kind of her to give this gorgeous jumpsuit to me. I can't thank her enough!

Hope everyone is doing well.
With much love, Lauren.

P.S. 9 more posts and I'll have three hundred posts!!

Hello everyone!

I first want to start out by saying a big ole THANKYOU to all of you who commented on all my homecoming posts. I really appreciated every single comment! You gals are too sweet :)

Speaking of sweet, my outfit today was almost too sweet and girly! Every now and then I just love putting together an ultra girly outfit... You know the details: lace, bows, pearls, pink, ect... The works! I swear though that my style is almost bipolar. Today I dressed so girly, and tomorrow I have a rather...edgier(?) look to wear. I feel like my style never has an exact "description." Is it girly? Retro? Bohemian? Edgy? Classic? Preppy? I really don't know! That's the whole point of this blog though. My blog is helping me to figure out exactly who I am and what my style is!

But about the new piece I'm wearing tomorrow: It's a surprise and something old that recently came into my possession. I have been dying for weeks to wear it, and just recently styled it all up to show you all. So excited!

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday. See ya'll tomorrow!
With much love, Lauren.
