Last Day Being 18.

Chambray Top, Gold Necklace: Thrifted.
Red Gavinas: Blowfish Shoes.
Nude Ballerina Skirt: c/o OASAP.
Cream Hair Bow: Modcloth.

Tomorrow is my 19th birthday...

...And today is my last day being 18.

It's a strange feeling growing up. Getting older. Moving on. You don't think about it in your day to day life, as the months go by. But when it comes to your birthday, it's a time to think and reflect on the past year. How you've changed, how you've grown, how you've become stronger. Sometimes I don't feel 18. I feel like this little girl, still so innocent and untouched by the horrors of the world thanks to my sheltering parents and a small town. Other times, I feel ancient. Worn down by inner sorrows and struggles, bad days and disappointments in myself. I feel like my forehead should have frown wrinkles, my eyes a hardened sadness, and my feet a bit of a heavier step.

I feel like I just had my18th birthday. I was excited to be an official adult. Open a bank account. Get to vote (which I will this November). I feel like I just had my 17th birthday. Overly enthused about being '17 reading Seventeen.' Looking forward to going to see that R rated movie. It doesn't seem time yet for August 1st to roll around and what that means for me. For this next birthday. My last 'teenage' birthday.

I knew 18th was going to be a big year for me. I could feel it. Eighteen is my favorite number and I wanted to make this year be a year I would remember

When I was looking back at some old posts from last year to get links, it was unbelievable how much I've changed. It wasn't really something I intended, tried, or even noticed. It just sort of happened.

I feel strong. Stronger than I ever have. Even with my recent bouts of depression, I can see and be proud of this girl I've become. I've overcome OCD, I can overcome this depression. I'm the heaviest weight I've ever been, but I don't think I've ever been more happy of my shape. I've had no 'real life friends' like always, but instead of moping around about it, I've accepted this and looked forward to someday having those friends I want. When meeting new people, I don't cower in fear, hiding myself. I'm goofy and weird and awkward and... Lauren.

For one of the first times in my life, I would actually want to be friends with Someone Like Me. I'm proud of this lady I've become. I'm excited for Kent. For starting out being a new, fresh me. Often in high school I wished I could have just started at a new school and shown everyone the 'real me.' Not anything based off preconceived notions, things heard, or biases. I'm looking forward to having a fresh start at being this person I'm finally happy with. And hopefully I can finally find some people who like this person I am, too.

So here's to my last day being 18. It's been the most incredible year and I'm ready to make my last year being a 'teenager' just as swell. Excited to take you along with me!

With much love,
An eighteen year old Lauren.

P.S. Remember the trip I took to Vermillion this past weekend? Hannah and Krissy both did videos on it so if you'd like to see me awkwardly talk, check them out!

HUGE Shop My Closet Update!

Hello there everyone!
Since I'll be leaving for Kent in less than a month (!) I've been doing some major closet cleaning for my 'shop my closet' store as of late. Most of these pieces are ones that I've loved and worn throughout the years, but simply don't have space in my closet for. There's pieces of every color, shape, and size so you may never know what you'll find! About 30+ more pieces are already listed and not pictured, not to mention this is just the first half of the new update... I still have 20 more items to upload in the next few days!

Check out a piece that catches your fancy by clicking on its name below the photos, and if you're not interested just enjoy some of my outfits from days past ;) It means so much to me to have your support and I am already so thankful to all of you who have already bought items. They certainty go to the BEST homes!

See you all tomorrow with an outfit post

With much love, Lauren.

Birthday Shopping!

Hello everyone!
Every year for my birthday I get to go shopping in Columbus for a huge treat. This is the only time of year I only really get to go 'shopping' other than the occasional online purchase I make and the thrifting I do locally. Although visiting my favorite stores that I don't have around here is a blast, my favorite part honestly is just spending the day with my mother, aunt, and grandmother. It's always so much fun to have a total girl's day and just bond, you know? No material possessions will replace the love I have for my family! I'm going to miss them so much when I go away for college (still contemplating how I'm going to cope...)

Anywho, we left early for Columbus which is about 50 minutes from where I live. With a bit of Starbucks to get me awake and chit chatting I was already so excited! We went to Polaris, a huge mall in Columbus with every store imaginable. I stopped at Delias, Forever21, Charlotte Russe, American Eagle, and MAC. I went to a few other stores, as well, but these are the only ones I purchased from.

For lunch we went to California Pizza Kitchen and munched on delcious Five Cheese + fresh tomato pizza and the traditional pepporoni. Not to mention at the end of the night we stopped at The Cheese Cake Factory for the most delcious slice of heaven I've ever eaten. I got the Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake....ah, so good!

In years past (last year, two years ago) I've certainty gotten carried away with shopping and tended just to 'buy to buy.' This year I was really proud of myself though and the versatile pieces I bought rather than just junk. I love each and every single piece to death (hello peter pan collar obsession) and here's a few details about each by order in which they appear:

Apple Dress with White Peter Pan Collar: Forever21.
Red 1940's Inspired Dress: AE.
Black Sleeveless Collar Shirt: Forever21.
White Collar Blouse: Forever21.
Pink Lace Blouse: Forever21.
Teal Sleeveless Blouse: Forever21.
Mint Lace Dress: Delia's.
Mint Skinny Jeans with Zippers: Charlotte Russe.
Tan Buckle Satchel: Forever21.
Magenta Lace Skirt: Forever21.
Black Pleated Skirt: Forever21.
Multi Strand Pearl Necklace: Forever21.
Heart Pendant Necklace: Forever21.
Rose Ring: Forever21.
MAC Matte Lipstick in 'Russian Red.'
MAC Powder Blush in 'Frankly Scarlet'

I have so many dresses already in my wardrobe that I'm always turning into skirts and tops, so I thought it was time to invest in some real skirts and tops! They'll be so much more versatile in my limited college wardrobe. Also, a pair of mint skinnies have been on my wishlist for the longest time and I was so happy to get my hands on a pair! The mint, lace dress from Delia's is literally MY DREAM DRESS. I say it a lot, but I really have found it, folks. And I had never purchased anything from MAC before and really wanted to invest in a nice, red lipstick because it's the one I use the most (and know wouldn't be a waste). Also, I've never seen a red blush before (I've looked everywhere!) and it's my favorite color to wear... so I decided to invest in it, as well. It just about killed me to spend so much money on two makeup products, but I love them so much!

*Funny side story on my MAC blush. I'm used to cheap drugstore blushes that need to be brushed on a hundred times, but with one swipe of this I had fire engine bright cheeks. All of the employees were cracking up and laughing at me because I literally looked like a doll with painted on cheeks. They told me to go easy on it at home, ha ;)*

It might come as a surprise to you all, but I'm actually not going to wear any of these clothes until I move to Kent. I want to have some pretty, new things to make me feel confident on campus and I just feel as though I should wait because these really are my new 'fall' clothes. It's going to kill me to have all these beautiful pieces just sitting in my closest, but I am going to treat myself and wear one of them for my birthday on Wednesday!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!
With much love, Lauren.

P.S. TODAY WAS MY LAST DAY WORKING AT CHEDDAR'S! WHOOPE! :D
