Halftee.

Red Polka Dot Dress: Modcloth.
Floral Scarf (worn as a headband), Tan Heels: Thrifted.

Why hello everyone!
I've always hated wearing camisoles and t-shirts underneath my dresses. Back in the early 2000's when layering camisoles under your t-shirt was the 'big thing' I always felt so silly and uncomfortable. I was constantly pulling down and readjusting my camis and even when they were adjusted, I had all sorts of weird lumps and bumps. Boy oh boy the the pre-teen in me wish I would have discovered Halftees back then!

I was so intrigued when the wonderful guys and gals at Halftee contacted me asking if I would like to try out one of their products. I had never seen anything like it before or even heard of the concept. Halftees are literally what the name says; half a tee. A comfortable band right under your bust keeps the t-shirt from bunching up underneath your clothing and helps the undershirt stay in place. Such a mind blowing concept for me! They have halftees in all sorts of styles- sleeveless, short sleeve, 3/4 length, and even full length, as well as, having various colors to pick from ,too.

This little lace halftee I'm wearing in the perfect, no hassle ditty to slip underneath all of the summer, sleeveless dresses I always wear. After all, I do have to pay attention to the dress code for another two months, hehe. The only problem I had with my halftee was the sleeves were quite a bit long and I had to roll them up. Perhaps that's just my shorty arms though!

Today was my last day of school and I'm now officially on spring break! Hooray; too excited for words! I'm not doing anything special, but I do plan on doing a lot of blogging, reading the Hunger Games (I saved them for when I would have time!), and also watching all sorts of movies I've been wanting to see. Blue Valentine and The Notebook (yet again)? Mmm, I have no problem with a Ryan Gosling Fest

With much love, Lauren.

Drawn IV.

I always feel so incredibly honored when a reader takes their time and talent to draw me. To study the features of my face and make magic happen simply with pencil strokes. It fascinates me because I've always been terrible at drawing humans. To say I am jealous of all you artists is a complete understatement! The lovely Tatiana sent this beautiful portrait to me the other day and I was thrilled beyond words. She truly makes me much more beautiful than I really am and her skill at accurately depicting emotion through art is impeccable. I just adore my readers

Almost Here.

Meeps! Hello, hello everyone!
So today was a pretty huge milestone in my senior year; I received my cap, gown, tassel, and graduation announcements... Even though I'm counting down the days and can hardly wait until graduation, a part of me still can't believe it's happening. It doesn't seem real.

I had the giddiest feeling in my stomach before receiving my cap and gown this morning. I just felt...excited. Excited because the future was in that little package. A gold cap and gown with a silky tassel and the year I've been waiting for; 2012.

As soon as I got home from school I took the cap and gown out of the package with careful ease. I placed the traditional gold cap onto my head and pushed my flattened bangs to the side. I slipped on the graduation gown and turned around to look at myself in the mirror and I started crying. Yes, that's right; crying. To see myself in this monumental garment was so overwhelming and made everything all the much more real. I could picture everything about that day at that moment; being united with my classmates one final time, walking to get my diploma in front of hundreds of people, turning my purple gold and white tassel, throwing my cap into the air, and looking into my crying parent's faces when I see them for the first time. It's all so surreal.
And receiving my graduation announcements. Seeing the embossed emblem of my school. Opening it up to reveal our class motto that I love. And seeing that date. June the 3rd where I embark on the journey of life. Again, so so surreal.

I only have 69 days until graduation. Even less days of school left to actually attend. The moment is getting closer. It's almost here.

With much love, Lauren.

Double Trouble.

Floral Blouse, Floral Skirt, Pink Floppy Hat: Thrifted.
Beige cardigan: H&M.
Nude Oxfords: Forever21.

Hello everyone!
I'm usually one to never ever mix prints. I'm such a matchy matchy person to the core and the thought of mixing two completely different prints scares me to death. Since I feel most comfortable with floral prints though I thought I'd give mixing two floral prints a go. Not too awfully crazy about this outfit, but hey I tried! I think I'll just stick to my matchy matchy outfits. Totally fine by me

High school has been taking its toll on me lately. Not just with homework, but with the people, their actions, and the daily grind I must go through. I won't really go into detail about all thats been bothering me, but upon exiting high school and getting into the car today I just bursted into tears. Not really for any one particular reason, but just everything becoming overwhelming as a whole. I'm just so sick of this place and have never felt more miserable and confined. I know I'm so close to the end but it feels like so far away...I'm just going through the motions and walking through the halls like a zombie until May 25th. Then I can finally be free and start over my life anew at a fresh place where no one knows me and has judged me all these years.

Hope you all are doing well though!
With much love, Lauren.

GIVEAWAY!

Hello everyone!
Do you remember way back in January when I mentioned to you all the amazing opportunity that Goodwill of Greater Cleveland presented to me? If you don't remember, Goodwill was so gracious enough to provide me with a gift card to thrift clothing to put together 7-10 outfits for a runway show. Myself and two other bloggers (Missy and Dina) will be showing our outfits with runway shows, as well as, a fashion school Ursuline is having 50 of design students send down outfits. The event is happening during Cleveland fashion week and this Goodwill Style show taking place on Thursday, May 3rd from 6:20-9:00 at the beautiful Cleveland Botanical Garden. To say I've been excited over the past few months is a definite understatement!

Goodwill was so incredibly gracious enough to give me two tickets to host a giveaway on my blog to allow a reader and their family member/friend come and see the show! You all hear me say so often how dreamy it would be to meet some of you in real life and now here's my chance! The event is going to be super fun with a cocktail hour before (non-alcoholic for me!), the runway show featuring the bloggers and design students, gift bags, and even a desert bar after the show. Totally swoon worthy, right?

I realize that a small percentage of my followers live by/near Ohio and many of you will not be able to enter, but it still makes me so happy that I can give at least one of you the chance at a spectacular night. I hope that all of you who live somewhere in Ohio or a close neighboring state enter and make sure to tell your friends/family members about the ticket giveaway, as well! You don't have to be a blog follower to enter, so if you know anyone interested in fashion and wants to see a live runway show let them know!

To be entered simply;
1. Leave your name and state you'd like to be entered
2. Leave an email so I can get a hold of you if you win

This giveaway will be open for one week until Monday April, 2nd 2012 until 12 P.M.

I'll be showing you all soon the looks I've put together for the show which I'm super thrilled about...I went with a romantic, whimsical, neutral colored inspiration (imagine that!) filled with homemade floral crowns and everything... So excited to see how it all comes together with hair and makeup!

Additionally, here is the event website if you'd like more information and you're interested in buying a ticket yourself;

Hope you all are doing well.
With much love, Lauren.

Remix #9.

Remix Item: White 1950's Dress, Thrifted.

Hello everyone and happy Sunday to you all!
This remix is featuring one of my favorite thrift finds ever that I found up in Cleveland last summer when I meeting up with some fellow bloggers...a beautiful, white, 1950's dress! I was completely smitten upon finding this little gem and was giddy with excitement when I found that it fit me to a T upon trying it on. Can you say a match made in vintage heaven...? This dress has been a wonderful piece to carry through all of the seasons we have here in Ohio. It looks lovely bare for those hot summer days, layered up for the cooler fall and spring ones, and perfect underneath a knitted poncho for a chilly snow day during the winter! And oh, may I mention it makes a lovely Smurfette dress for Halloween, as well? ;)

With much love, Lauren.

Anonymous;

There recently was a bit of a squabble from an anonymous commenter about the number of pictures I post on my blog. The individual thought I post too many pictures and although they enjoy reading my blog, they were starting to like it less because of the amount of pictures I post. On the next outfit post I did, the individual commented again saying that I really should have taken their advice and used less pictures. A bit of an argument broke out between some readers and the individual saying how the person was wrong, and the anonymous commenter proceeded to say that if I created this blog to attract readers, I should take the constructive criticism and post less pictures because it's an unenjoyable part of my blog.

Some parts of this anonymous commter's statements I can agree with. I do post a ton of pictures. Never under ten and usually at an upwards of twenty or so. Sometimes even more. Whenever I'm going through and editing pictures I always try and cut down on the number of pictures I want to post because I realize that I don't want to seem narcissistic by posting so much. I'm not like that and never want to appear to be. I try and encorperate various elements into my pictures such as a full body shot, a half body shot, a close up, and various detail shots. I always look at my posts and realize that I post too many pictures. It's a fact that my blog is highly based on visual images, so I agree with anonymous with the fact that I post too many pictures. The thing I don't agree about? That I should change that.

If you look into the older archives of my blog I would usually never post over five pictures. I had a crappy camera, took three full length shots and two face shots and was done. I wasn't inspired by what I did and was never content with how my outfit posts turned out. About six months ago or so I got a new camera and it was like a whole new world was presented to me. One where I could capture a beautiful moment in time and tell a story with images. I was fascinated and that's when the amount of photos on my blog really started to go up.

I would never in a million years call myself a photographer, but I will say that I love photography and it's such a passion for me. One of the only times I truly feel happy with my life and in a good place is when I'm out taking outfit pictures. I get transported to a place where everything else in my life is blocked out and it's just me, nature, and my camera. I've fallen in love with taking pictures for my blog and as a result I get a bit snap happy. I love capturing every little detail of my outfit. Capturing little snippets of nature around me. Capturing the outfit as a whole and sharing it with you all so you can feel my passion.

I will not and refuse to cut down on the amount of pictures I post on this blog. It is what makes my blog mine and what makes it unique. This is a place to show who I am freely and it should be a place where I can show myself without negativity. The anonymous commenter's first comment was constructive criticism and I appreciate that. The next two comments, however, were out of line and filled with rudeness and attitude. Anonymous, I will not change my blog for you. I will not ever do that for anyone.

I'll admit, I'm probably one of the worst people in the world when it comes to taking constructive criticism. First I get upset and hurt, then I get angry and defensive and deny the fact that I could do anything wrong. In my head I just simply conclude that he or she doesn't know what they're talking about and I then ignore the criticism given to me. I know I shouldn't do that and it's incredibly immature, but it's something I've been trying to work on. All of those feelings I get aside I'm trying to look at anonymous constructive criticism with clear and unbiased eyes to give he or she a fair input.

And I think they're wrong. If someone doesn't like the amount of photos I post on my blog, fine. So be it. I might lose a follower, I might lose two, I might lose twenty. It doesn't matter. One thing you misunderstand, anonymous, is the fact that I did not start this blog to attract followers. You are dead wrong. I started this blog as a place away from the sometimes lonely and uninspiring life I live. A place where I could let loose, be myself, and share my passions with others who have the same common interests. If I choose to let anyone and everyone tell me how to change my blog and what I should do to make them like it anymore, how is it mine? How is there anything that represents me in it...? I don't care if I lose all my followers due to the fact of how many pictures I post. This is my blog and I will be carrying it out as I please. Whether it contains 1 picture or 100 pictures. I'm not going to let someone like you change someone like me.

With much love, Lauren.
